FAQ
At A*bundant, we have formulated our products so that you can be confident with every purchase! You may find below the widely used ingredients that we chose to avoid.
What is SLS?
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is found in almost every health and beauty products as it lathers up to create a cleansing foam. Many hand soaps, face washes, shaving creams and even toothpaste owe their foaming quality to SLS.
SLS is deemed as ‘safe to use’ by many regulatory bodies yet, despite being marked as ‘safe to use’, SLS has been identified as a skin irritant if left on skin for prolonged periods of time.
What is SLES?
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) is deemed safer as compared to SLS. It is a synthetic foaming agent derived from SLS through a process called ethoxylation. Through this process, sometimes the SLES might be contaminated with a cancer causing substance called 1,4 dioxane.
Reported Issues with SLS & SLES
Both SLS and SLES can irritate eyes, skin, and lungs, especially with long-term use. They are both harmful and is known to have cancer causing substance called 1,4 dioxane.
If you have sensitive skin or any skin conditions such as dermatitis, then you might want to avoid any products that contain SLS as it will lead to cracked, dry and tender skin!
What is Paraben?
Parabens are widely used as a preservative for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Scientific studies suggest that parabens can cause skin irritation and in worst cases, they can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs and increase the risk of cancer.
